Auto Tags

If you are moving to Carroll County from out of state, obtain your auto tag within 30 days of residency.  You may change the title and get new tags at the Carroll County Administrative Building, 423 College Street, Carrollton.  Bring with you: proof of ownership, insurance and residency, mileage and the original title or name and business of lien holder or copy of the lease agreement.  The tag fee is $20.  Call (770) 830-5826 for more information. 

Taxes

City, state and county real estate taxes are due by December 20th of each year.  Senior citizens may be eligible for some exemption based on age or income.  Returns are based on property owned January 1st of each year.  Residents within city limits may call their respective City Hall for information about homestead exemptions.  County residents should inquire about property taxes at the county Tax Assessor's office at (770) 830-5812 or Tax Commissioner's office at (770) 830-5843.

Voter Registration

Registration is done at more than 30 locations throughout the county. Newcomers are encouraged to contact the main voter registration office at the county administrative building,770-830-5824, for more information.

Driver's License

Located at 512 Old Newnan Road in Carrollton.  Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00AM - 5:00PM, and closed every Monday.  The phone number is (770) 836-4603.  The Department of Motor Vehicle Safety customer service telephone number is (678) 413-8400 and the Web site address is www.dds.ga.gov.

Business License

Licenses are issued at each of the seven cities in the county.  Licenses are required in the county for any services provided to the public.  Commercial fees in the county are based on the business' gross revenues, and are renewable by April 15th each year.  First time applicants pay a $25 administrative fee.  Home occupation licenses in the county are $150 per year, also renewable yearly.  Call for more information or apply at your respective city hall or at the county administrative building, (770) 830-5861.
